Vampires
Larkin Talesmyr is a petite vampire. With dark brown hair with lighter brown tints, Larkin is beautiful in her own way. She is slightly smaller then average height and she has seen just over 15 years. Larkin’s eyes are brown with blue and green flecks, but the flecks are only visible in some lights. She has the slight build of a dancer. Larkin’s got delicate features—from her eyes that are beautifully shaped to her full pink lips. Her long eyelashes add to her picture of innocence, the look Larkin puts on when she wants her way. Larkin’s hair is very long, and if let down and striated, it reaches past the small of her back. Soft like silk, Larkin’s hair is often said to be one of her best features. She has lighter, cream colored, skin, but it fits her. Larkin’s ears are pierced but she thinks of earrings as a hassle. When she does wear them, usually to important events, they are long and dangling earrings. Her outfits are loose and flowing, not tight and restraining. Sometimes the type of clothes Larkin wears can be considered gypsy like. Larkin has natural beauty so she rarely uses makeup. If she does, it’s a lighter color. She seems to almost glow when she’s happy, and Larkin smiles enough that she gives off the vibe that nothing is really wrong. Even if she’s unhappy or disappointed, Larkin puts on her façade—a bright smile with fake laughs. Larkin is a good deceiver, and can hide what she’s feeling easily. Larkin isn’t always sweet and cute and lovely. She does have a temper when she’s angry and her words aren’t always all that nice. If you know Larkin well, you’ll be able to tell what’s going on with her. Not knowing the solution to a problem or being unsure of something causes Larkin to fidget. Biting her lip and play with a bracelet that she always wears are two things that happen when Larkin gets flustered or embarrassed. When Larkin is disappointed in something, her face falls for a few seconds. Then she acts like nothing at all is wrong. She’s extremely loyal to her friends, to the point of death. It sounds strange and cliché, but it’s 100% true. Larkin is trustworthy and will never utter a secret if she’s been sworn to secrecy. With that being said, Larkin is also dependable, determined, and independent. When she says she’ll do something, it gets done. When something is hard and frustrating, Larkin will try finishing it, because that’s just the way she is. Larkin doesn’t really like to lead, unlike her half brother, nor does she like to follow. She is her own person and acts like such. Larkin is an artist of all kinds. She loves to dance most of all. Light on her feet, Larkin walks like a dancer. Head held high, a certain way of distributing her weight, and the slight outward turn of the feet make Larkin look graceful and dainty. Looking almost breakable at times because of this, Larkin is anything but weak. She likes to sketch and paint and Larkin also enjoys wood carving. Larkin also enjoys nature. Whether climbing trees or swimming or tending to her flower garden, Larkin is perfectly at peace in nature. One thing that scares Larkin terribly is enclosed spaces. She cannot be in a closet or in a locked room for too long. It just scares her. The one time she was locked in a smaller room as a prank, Larkin was banging on the door, screaming, and hyperventilating the whole time. One other thing that Larkin doesn’t like is crowded areas. A bit nervous of large groups of people, Larkin prefers to be with a smaller group of friends just hanging out. Larkin is the half sister of Zane Cavry, the leader of the vampires. She is not strict and she doesn't have the powerful aura that he does and when they're compared Larkin feels like crying. Her brother was always the perfect child in their father's eyes and Larkin was pushed out of the picture. Larkin isn't as strong or as mighty as her brother and she tends to fade into the background when Zane's around. She doesn't like to take charge in any situation so she's usually seen as the weaker sibling. Larkin's bitter feelings toward her father led her to take on her mother's last name. The name changing didn't upset her father because Larkin was the child born out of an affair. He didn't want anything to do with Larkin from the beginning. Now that he's dead, Larkin is breaking out of her shell more. Larkin and Zane are getting closer though there are still some negative feelings between them.
Zane Cavry is the type of person that people find hard to like. Though he is average height and build and has regular features (no extremely large nose, no unusually high cheekbones, no larger-then-normal eyes, etc;), Zane does ooze power. He has a long stride and steel gray eyes that seem to see right through you. He has a cold manner; Zane's definately not the touchy-feely type. Zane is definately intimidating. Zane demands respect and will not stand for insolance of any type. He's not going to spare anyone's feelings about bad situations... in other words, he's blunt. He is seen as heartless because of these reasons, but in reality Zane isn't quite so bad. Sure, Zane isn't the nicest, but he is determined and strong willed. Those also might be seen as negative qualities unless you think about it in the long run. Determination is defined as 'a resolute movement toward some object or end' and Zane is steadfast in his opinions and beliefs and makes descisions to acheive what he believes is best for all. Zane is strong willed and headstrong and will see things through until the end. Zane's calculating, calm, cautious and cool attitude is unnerving to many and Zane plans to keep it that way. He is not arrogant and boastful as some might believe, but that doesn't mean that Zane doesn't take pride in what he does. He is harsh on himself, if not more on himself then others, and he will do things the best that he can do them. Zane is knowledgable of many things, but then again, who of the undead isn't? Zane is good (that's an understatement) with technology, languages, and medicine (not that he needs it). Zane has built his own computer and made his own video game. He knows so many languages, including the 'dead' ones, and Zane's proud of that. Zane finds the science fields fascinating and so he will sometimes grab a medical journal and do some 'light' reading from it. Zane's ability that he gained after he was turned is forcefields. Pale blue in color, Zane's forcefields can be used for many things. They can protect him, protect others, and be used for other, non-important, activities. Zane uses his force fields as steps sometimes, creating one after another in front of him, and he goes up to the clouds often enough. The sky is his safe-haven where no one can bother him. He shares it only with the Avians. As long as he doesn't bother them, they, for the most part, leave him alone. Zane's half-sister is Larkin and Zane often gets more frustrated with her then with anyone else. He feels sometimes as if she destroyed his life by being born and then at other times Zane feels sorry for the girl. Zane refuses to talk about his past even if he's come to terms with everything that has happened.
ShapeShifters
Gold haired and fair skinned, Joseph Conell, who prefers the nickname Seph, is a shapeshifter. Seph has dark green eyes, nothing he considers 'special', high cheekbones, and sharper features. He's got what some consider the 'perfect complexion' without any blemishes. One thing that Seph is proud of is his ability to raise one eyebrow. Not many people that he's run into have been able to do that. He is six feet and five inches tall and hates the fact that he is so tall. In the beginning it bothered him so much that he would slump, but Seph has adjusted and stands tall now. Seph's shifter form is a flaming red fox. The colors of his fur include red, yellow, and orange. In that form, he has long legs, larger ears then the average fox, and a white belly. Seph is well educated from being alive for over 150 years. He is well versed in languages because he has traveled to many places and he has read so many books that libraries in the nearby cities have nothing that interests him. Seph is dubbed a 'bookworm' by some of the humans in town, but he really doesn't care because he does so much more. Seph enjoys sketching with pencils and charcoal and sells his artwork online. He is good with pastels but doesn't do much with that. Seph was apprenticed to a blacksmith, carpenter, glassblower, tailor, and potter at different points in time so he knows those trades pretty well. Seph is usually happy and energetic and for the most part has adjusted to living for so long. Seph is friendly and when he gets bored he entertains himself, which doesn't always end well for the other people he's around. He is very dramatic in a silly sort of way. Seph will go out of his way to annoy some people. He is somewhat immature for his age mainly because he was always the adult when he was young. During his human life, from the age of ten and onwards, Seph cared for his siblings. Seph's parents died in a fire and so Seph was the only one to care for his brother and sister, Leander and Matilda, during that troubling time. Seph would steal bread for their next meal and pick pockets so they could buy clothes. Ten years after the death of his parents, Seph was turned into a shapeshifter. He kept watch over Leander and Matilda though they believed Seph to be dead. When Seph discovered his invisibility power, he took more from the rich and left it for his siblings to find. Once Leander became an apprentice to a carpenter and Matilda became a maid, Seph traveled. He visited them sometimes and kept a book of family lines. Many years after these events took place, Seph joined a group of shifter nomads. They disapproved of the other undead groups and killed many of the traveling ones. Eventually they came unto a group of slayers and all involved died except for Seph. He was able to kill two of the slayers due to his invisibility. The fight is forever engraved in Seph's memory and he still has some trouble coming to terms with his killing of all races. Seph is doing better now that he is in a 'safe house' without the violence he is used to. Seph is prone to fits of rage when something triggers a negative memory. He usually breaks something in those fits of rage, but Seph has plenty of money to fix everything. Seph collects antiques of all sorts. He has ancient coins that are hidden in his room, a case of daggers and swords dating back past medieval times, a small crystal chandelier, and some antique jewlery that would probably be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in today's world. Seph gives money to orphanages across the world on a yearly basis, not forgetting how hard it was to survive without parents.
